Metric Boring and Facing Heads

The "SGL/DBL Series" of Criterion Boring Heads are readily adaptable to a variety of machine tools. An important feature of these heads is the threaded back which can be fitted with interchangeable shanks. All Criterion heads have a clearly graduated (laser marked) micrometer dial screw of heat treated steel with threads ground from the solid, after hardening.

The generous bearing surface makes possible heavy roughing cuts, and more accurate finish cuts. Another important feature is the large adjustment range. This often eliminates offset bars and special set-ups. All parts subject to wear are hardened to guarantee long life and continued accuracy.

The 76F-HBMD Facing Head is the ideal tool for performing those difficult facing, grooving, backfacing and counterboring operations on work pieces too large to turn or too bulky to handle safely. Automatic feed is in the forward mode and is actuated by holding a knurled feed-ring. To return to starting position a hex wrench is inserted in the end of the micrometer screw and manually reversed.

The 76F-HBMD features a gear drive that generates a continuous feed rate of 0,08 per revolution. A specially designed detent clutch automatically disengages when a pre-set stop is reached or when cutting pressures become excessive.
